University of Minnesota 2018 Rare Disease Day

The Center for Orphan Drug Research and Stem Cell Institute invite you to attend our 2018 Rare Disease Day program. Our keynote presentations, which will be moderated by Medical School Dean Jakub Tolar, MD, PhD, will focus on gene and cell therapies by University of Minnesota faculty Drs. Beau Webber and Mark Osborn. In addition, Ms. Michelle Berg, Vice President of Patient Affairs and Community Engagement for Abeona Therapeutics, who will provide a community perspective on the development of gene therapy in pediatrics. This year we are excited to offer an opportunity to connect researchers working on rare diseases with patient advocacy groups. The event will include poster presentations and lunch. The event is free but registration is required (link below).

***Poster Symposium***

We invite you, your colleagues, students and postdoctoral fellows to submit abstracts for poster presentations on basic, translational, and clinical research related to rare diseases and their treatments. The poster session will take place prior to the keynote address. Deadline for abstract submission is February 16.

***2018 Rare Disease Day Research Awards***

Trainees (including undergraduate, graduate, and professional students, postdocs) are invited to apply for a Rare Disease Day Research Award. To be considered for this award, trainees must submit an essay (300 words or less) on how their research contributes to the understanding and/or treatment of rare diseases. The deadline to be considered for this award is February 9.
